Don’t do this if you need the ultrasn0w carrier unlock!!

1. Make sure that your iPhone 3GS is already jailbroken on iOS 4.

2. Connect your iPhone 3GS with the computer.

3. Take a backup of your data in iTunes.

4. Now download the iOS 4.1 beta firmware for your device from here.

5. Also download Sn0wbreeze 1.8 beta from here.

6. Now start Sn0breeze 1.8.

7. Select ” Simple Mode “.

8. Browse to the iOS 4.1 beta .ipsw file and choose it and Sn0wbreeze verifies it. Then move forward.

9. In the next screen, when Sn0wbreeze asks you ” Do you want to activate your iPhone? “, click on ” Yes “. Only if you have an officially supported carrier like AT&T, click ” No “.

10. Now Sn0wbreeze starts to cook the iOS 4.1 beta firmware. Wait till that process ends.

11. When it is finished, chose your iPhone 3GS from the devices list in iTunes.

12. Holding the Shify key, click on the Restore button.

13. Now browse to the new iOS 4.1 beta firmware cooked by Sn0wbreeze and select it.

14. Wait till iTunes restore your iPhone 3GS to this jailbroken iOS 4.1 beta firmware.

Download Sn0wbreeze 1.8.

1. Jailbreak your iPhone on iOS 4.0.1.

2. Now open Cydia to unlock iOS 4.0.1 on your iPhone.

3. Select the ” Manage ” tab.

4. Now choose ” Sources “.

5. Now tap on ” Edit “.

6. Select ” Add “.

7. Enter ” http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com ” and tap ” Add Source “.

8. When the installation completes, search ” ultrasn0w 0.93 ” in Cydia.

9. Install Ultrasn0w 0.9.3 to unlock iOS 4.0.1 on your iPhone.

10. Restart your iPhone and it will be unlocked and you could use any carrier now.

You could update iPhone to iOS 4.0.1 automatically or manually using iTunes.

Automatically

1. Download iTunes 9.2 if you don’t have it.

2. Connect your iPhone to the computer.

3. Now when the iTunes open up, you will be shown a message.

4. Click on the ” Download and Install ” button to automatically update iPhone to iOS 4.0.1.

Now iTunes will update your iPhone 3G, 3GS or 4 to iOS 4.0.1 firmware.

Manually

1. Download iTunes from the above link.

2. Download the iOS 4.0.1 firmware for your iPhone 3G, 3GS or 4.

3. Connect your iPhone to the computer.

4. Choose your device from the list.

5. By pressing the Shift key(in Windows) or the option key(in Mac OS X), click on the Restore button.

6. Now browse and choose the iOS 4.0.1 firmware .ipsw file.

That’s it! Now iTunes starts to update your iPhone 3G, 3GS or 4 to iOS 4.0.1 firmware.

Now you could download the iOS 4.0.1 for your iPhone and then manually install it using iTunes or you could automatically do it via iTunes 9.2.
