How to SSH Into iPad On Mac OS X

After SSH ( Secure Shell ) into your iPad, you will be able to connect your computer to iPad through a wireless network and transfer files between them without using iTunes. You could see and use your iPad as a hard disk drive in your computer after the SSH into iPad. If you are using Mac OS X, then here is a guide to SSH into iPad on Mac OS X using CyberDuck.

NOTE: Your iPad and computer must be connected to the same wireless network for this guide to work. Also you need to jailbreak your iPad on Mac OS X to proceed with the below steps.

1. Now open Cydia.

2. Search for OpenSSH in the search tab.

3. Find it from the search results and tap on it.

4. Install OpenSSH by tapping on the install button on the top right corner.

5. After it is installed, reboot the iPad.

6. Download and install CyberDuck on Mac OS X.

7. Launch CyberDuck.

8. Click on the ” Open Connection ” button at the top left corner of the program window.

9. Now enter the details.

• Protocol : SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol)

• Server : Enter iPad IP address. Find iPad IP Address.

• Username: root

• Password: alpine

10. Click the ” Connect ” button.

11. Click the “ Allow “ button if you face the ” Host Key Mismatch error “.

That’s all! You have SSH into your iPad on Mac OS X.

Jailbreak iPhone and iPod Touch with Blackra1n in Mac OS X

A few days back I released a guide for jailbreaking iPhone 3G/3GS and iPod Touch 2G/3G 3.1.2 firmware with Blackra1n. But it worked only in Windows and not in Mac OS X. But now the Mac OS X version of Blackra1n has been released and here is a guide to jailbreak iPhone 3G/3GS and iPod Touch 2G/3G in Mac OS X.

NOTE: Those who don’t care about changing your SIM should only do this. If you want to do that then you should jailbreak your iPhone with PwnageTool 3.1.4.

Dev-Team’s PwnageTool 3.1.4 works only on Mac OS X and not in Windows. But Geohot’s Blackra1n is just the opposite. It works on Windows and not in Mac OS X.

But now Blackra1n lovers has got what they wanted. Blackra1n’s Mac OS X version has been released. It helps the users to jailbreak iPhone and iPod Touch 3.1.2 Firmware in Mac OS X. But you should use this tool only if you don’t care about unlocking your iPhone.

Jailbreak iPhone and iPod 3.1.2 Firmware with PwnageTool

Last day, Dev-Team released the PwnageTool 3.1.4. With this tool, you could easily jailbreak iPhone 2G/3G/3GS and iPod Touch 1G/2G with 3.1.2 Firmware. Here’s how to jailbreak the iPhone or iPod Touch in Mac using PwnageTool 3.1.4.

1. Download and install iTunes 9.

2. Take a full backup of your iPhone or iPod Touch.

3. Download PwnageTool 3.1.4 and original iPhone or iPod Touch 3.1.2 Firmware.

4. Run PwnageTool, choose your device and continue.

5. Now PwnageTool will automatically identify the firmware version you are using.

6. In the next dialogue box, click on ” No ” if you want to unlock your iPhone or iPod Touch. Otherwise you could click on ” Yes “.

7. PwnageTool will now create the custom IPSW file.

8. Once done, click on ” Yes ” and then continue.

9. Launch iTunes and choose your iPhone or iPod Touch from the devices list in left side.

10. Press left Alt button and click on ” Restore “.

11. Browse and choose the Custom IPSW file PwnageTool created.

Wait until the process is completed. and then you will have a completely jailbroken iPhone or iPod Touch in your hands.

The Dev-Team last day released the new PwnageTool 3.1.4 to Jailbreak of iPhone 2G/3G/3GS and iPod Touch 1G/2G with 3.1.2 firmware. This tool will work only in Mac and not in Windows. But I will release a guide on how to jailbreak them in Windows. So don’t worry about that. It also would be having some limitations. But still most of you would be able to do it. Last month the iPhone Dev Team released PwnageTool 3.1 to jailbreak iPhone 2G, 3G and iPod Touch 1G. The new version (3.1.3) of PwnageTool is avilable for download now. The 3.1.3 version works on all generations of iPhone and on the first and second generations of iPod Touch. But it works only on Mac OS X. Two months ago, VLC released its 1.0.1 version. Now its updated version 1.0.2 is available for download.
