Today Apple have released the iOS 4.1 beta 2 for iPhone and iPod Touches. But this iOS 4.1 beta 2 can be accessed only by the developers. Only member in the iPhone Developer Standard or Enterprise Program can download it.

The iOS 4.1 beta 2 comes up with a new baseband and so if your iPhone is unlocked now, and still you want the unlock, then it is safe not to update your iPhone to iOS 4.1 beta 2 till an unlock tool is released for it.

Downgrade iPod Touch 2G to 3.1.3 Firmware

Most of the iPod Touch 2G users have updated their firmwares to the new iOS 4. But still if you want to quit the iOS 4 and downgrade your iPod Touch 2G to 3.1.3 firmware, then here is how to do it. Just do the steps given below to downgrade iPod Touch 2G to 3.1.3 firmware.

NOTE : This is a guide for Windows users. Also you should have the 3.1.3 firmware .ipsw file.

1. Open Notepad with administer privileges to start with the downgrade process.

2. Now open ” C > Windows > System32 > drivers > etc > hosts ” in notepad.

3. Now carefully add ” 74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com ” at the bottom without changing anything else.

4. Save the file and close it.

5. Connect your iPod Touch 2G to the computer.

6. After iTunes detect it and sync to it, switch of the iPod Touch 2G.

7. Now press the Power button and Home button together for 10 seconds and take of your hand from the power button but still hold the Home button until a USB device recognition is shown by Windows.

8. Now when iTunes ask you to Restore your iPod Touch 2G, hold the Shift button and click on the ” Restore ” button.

9. Browse to the iPod Touch 2G 3.1.3 firmware .ipsw file and let iTunes do the rest.

NOTE : If any errors like “ 1011 ” and ” 1015 ” are shown, ignore them.

10. Restart your iPod Touch 2G after exiting recovery mode.

I wrote earlier on how to jailbreak iPhone 3GS iOS 4 on Windows. It was using the latest released Sn0wbreeze 1.6. I aslo wrote on unlocking iPhone 3GS iOS 4 with any baseband. This time it is on how to jailbreak iPod Touch 2G iOS 4 on Windows using Sn0wbreeze 1.6.

Do the following steps to jailbreak your iPod Touch 2G with iOS 4 on Windows operating system.

1. Download iTunes 9.2 from here.

2. Download original iPod Touch 2G iOS 4 firmware.

3. Download Sn0wbreeze 1.6 to jailbreak iPod Touch 2G iOS 4 from here and .NET Framework 3.5 ( to run Sn0wbreeze ) from here.

Now follow the rest of the steps given here correctly to jailbreak your iPod Touch 2G with iOS 4.

1. Make sure you have the latest iTunes.

Download iTunes

2. Download 4.0 firmware for iPod Touch 1G, 2G or 3G.

3. Connect your iPod Touch to the computer.

4. Select your iPod Touch from the devices list on iTunes.

5. Now hold the Shift button and click on Restore.
