Blackberry has now added a new member to their smartphone collection – the Blackberry Curve 8900, with good features and a fair price. It is not a blackberry smartphone that could create a revolution but a standard one made for mid budgets.

Design not so astonishing

•The Curve 8900 is smaller and a little thicker than its earlier one (9000).

•Its keys are smaller. But still it won’t cause any problem in typing since enough space is left between them. The black trackbail just below the screen and above the keyboard is a little irritating. It is a bit difficult to control.

•Above the screen, there is loudspeaker along with a light sensor.

•The front part of the Blackberry Curve 8900 is made of a shiny plastic which gives the phone a good shiny look. It could easily trap fingerprints.

•The back side is made of a leather like plastic that could give a good grip to our hand to hold the phone properly.

•The camera is 3.2 megapixel and has a flash LED feature for taking pictures at night.

•On the right side of the phone there is a camera key, dual volume key, a microUSB port and a jack port.

•On the left, there is a voice dial command key.

The design of the Blackberry Curve 8900 is not so surprising and is similar to that that of the older ones.

Display is good

•TFT 2.4 inch display.

•Supports 65k colours.

•A half VGA 480×360 pixel resolution.

•Visibility of the screen is good in sunlight.

•Provides good quality images.

•Wide enough to provide a good surfing experience.

Camera provides standard pictures

•3.2-megapixel camera.

•Has LED flash for taking pictures at night.

•Provides autofocus feature.

•Has little protection against scratches.

•A camera button is located at the side of the phone.

•Takes long time for taking photos.

Processor and Memory is better

•A single Marvell 512 MHz CPU.

•120 MB user free internal storage memory and 256 MB flash memory.

•Storage space is 16 GB.

The Blackberry Curve 8900 has a good processor and along with its memory, its makes the Curve 8900 more faster than the earlier ones.

Battery not bad

•Officially it is stated that its 1400 mAh Li-Ion battery can stand for 5 1/2 hours in talk time mode and for 356 hours in standby.

•Large usage would need daily charging.

Its battery is not said for people like businessmen. If you talk for so much time in your Blackberry Curve 8900, your battery’s charge will be easily lost.

Price

•The Blackberry Curve 8900 is priced at around $450.

Conclusion

Good

Bad

•The battery not meant for heavy users. It loses its charge quite easily, especially while talking.

•The camera doesn’t have mush protection.

•The long time it takes for taking photos with its 3.2 megapixel camera.
