Gtalk and Skype is always best :)
I found digsby to be of great value, and is simpler to customize than trillian. I chose this IMing client over trillian through my experience. I have tried pidgin and the others on my macbook and windows computers as well, however, I haven’t found any one of them to be better than digsby. I like digsby because of their ease of use, aesthetics (looks), and the ability to connect with a lot of IMing websites like facebook, google chat, yahoo, msn, and a ton more! This is my choice.
